Cathy Hill

Original artist
Cathy Hill was born in the 1960s. She lives in a little house in the woods in Egerton Kent with her very talented artist partner and four exceptional children. She lived in Farnham and grew up in Nottingham, going on to study sculpture at Maidstone College of Art.

She has worked for many years with small children, helping with and running playgroups. 'Pre school children can keep you too busy to focus on your own work, but immersing yourself in teaching and helping the under-fives keeps you on your toes creatively, keeps ideas flowing and makes you very versatile', she says. Now that she has a little more time for her own work she is bursting with ideas.

Cathy's pictures are unique in style and whimsical in nature. She uses a sock-knitting needle and wax/oil crayon to create swirling lines and vibrant colours. The pictures represent the world as seen through her own imagination and lend themselves very much to story-book illustration.

Cathy has had several highly successful individual exhibitions in Kent and has taken part in others, including one at Christies in London. As well as working on many commissioned pictures She is illustrating a series of books for a homeopathic company called Healthworks, a book of modern fables and a childrens book of her own invention.
